OFFICIAL LANGUAGE SECTION
In order to ensure compliance with the constitutional provisions regarding official language and to promote the use of Hindi for official purposes, an Official Language Section was established in the Sangeet Natak Akademi, in which the activities related to Official Language are conducted under the headship of Assistant Director (OL). It is the responsibility of the Official Language Section to ensure the implementation of the Official Language Policy of the Central Government in the Sangeet Natak Akademi and its constituent units.
Official Language Section is responsible for the following three important functions:
1. Implementation of the Official Language Policy of India.
2. Translation work.
3. Publishing and editing of Hindi magazines.
The activities carried out under the implementation of the Official Language Policy are as follows:
• Conducting workshops and seminars in every quarter.
• Quarterly meeting of the Implementation Committee presided over by the Secretary of the Akademi, every quarter.
• Official language inspection of the constituent units and centers of the Akademi.
• To get the personnel trained in the Central Hindi Training Institute.
• Sending regular reports of Hindi to the Ministry of Culture, Town Official Language Implementation Committee and Department of Official Language, Ministry of Home Affairs.
• To ensure compliance of the orders of Hindi Advisory Committee and Parliamentary Official Language Committee of the Ministry of Culture.
• Organizing Hindi Parv (Hindi Pakhwada).
• Ensuring compliance of the annual program issued by the Department of Official Language, Ministry of Home Affairs.
Translation work
• As far as translation works are concerned, translation of the annual report of Sangeet Natak Akademi and preparation of a detailed report for the Ministry of Culture, besides citations of SNA Awardees, brochures of various programs and other miscellaneous documents and the letters are used to be translated by the Hindi section.
• Since the reach of Hindi is wide, it is used by the Akademi for advertisements of various programs, invitation letters, program details, press releases, material for the website of the Akademi etc. Hindi translation and updation work is also done by the official language section.
Publishing and Editing
Three Hindi magazines are published by the OL Section of the Sangeet Natak Akademi, which are as follows:
Sangana: The first issue of this magazine, focused on performing arts, had been released on 04 April 2011 by Padma Vibhushan and the then Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) Mrs. Kapila Vatsyayan. The founder editor of this magazine was the eminent poet and art critic Mr. Prayag Shukla. 39 issues of this magazine have been published so far. The cost of this magazine is Rs. 100/ only.
Rajbhasha Rupambara: For the promotion of Hindi and culture, the magazine "Rajbhasha Rupambara" (half yearly) is also published by the official language section of the Akademi. The first issue of this magazine was released on 14 September 2012. 15 issues of this magazine have been published so far. Special Issues of Rajbhasha Rupambara on Ustad Bismillah Khan, Amrit Lal Nagar, Kashi and Gandhi are particularly noteworthy. On February 19, 2015, “Rajbhasha Rupambara” had been awarded with the first prize of excellent magazine by the Town Official Language Implementation Committee, Department of Official Language, Ministry of Home Affairs. This magazine is dedicated to language & culture and is available free of cost.
Yoga Parv: Our Honorable Prime Minister is the inspiration of the magazine dedicated to the promotion of Yoga through the performing arts. The first issue of this magazine was released in June 2015 by Padma Vibhushan Dr. Sonal Mansingh. Since then seven issues of this magazine have been published. This magazine dedicated to yoga and the performing arts is also available free of cost.
