Nandan Mehta

Born in 1942 in Ahmedabad, Shri Nandan Mehta received his training in Tabla under Shri Sadashivrao Lutde. He has also acquired proficiency in the art as a disciple of Pandit Kishan Maharaj of the Benaras gharana. Shri Nandan Mehta has been featured in All India Radio’s National Programme of Music as well as in the Akashvani Sangeet Sammelan and various other music conferences. Being a trustee of the Saptak School of Music, he has made a major impact on the cultural scene in Ahmedabad through his work in preserving and propagating classical music. Since 2004 Saptak’s archives have pre- served and provided access to its holdings to students, teachers, researchers and connoisseurs. Shri Mehta has been honoured by several institutions for his work in propagating the music of India. He is a recipient of Gaurav Puraskar conferred by the Gujarat Sangeet Natak Akademi. Shri Nandan Mehta receives the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award for his contribution to Hindustani instrumental music.
