N.C. Thakur

Born in 1917 in Amritsar, Shri Nawin Chand Thakur obtained Master’s degrees in Persian and English from Punjab University and M.Litt. from the Oxford University. He joined the Punjab Education Department as a Lecturer in Urdu and Persian in 1943. Shri Thakur has produced and directed many plays in English, Hindi and Punjabi such as Alag Alag Raste, Mukta- dhara, The Trojan Women, Do Andhe, Sab Se Bada Admi, and Perfection City. He has been honoured by the Chandigarh Sangeet Natak Akademi in 2007. Shri N.C. Thakur receives the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award for his contribution to Indian theatre as a director.
