Rupesh Kashinath Gawas

Shri Rupesh Kashinath Gawas was born on 19th August 1980 in village Keri (Sattari), Goa. He received his initial training in Hindustani music under the able guidance of eminent gurus including Shri Anand Mhaskar, Shri Prakash Korgaonkar, Shri Sudhakar Karandikar, Dr. Hanumant V. Burli and Prof. Kamlakar Naik. Presently, he is receiving advanced training under the tutelage of Shri Vijay Bakshi. He holds a Masters Degree in Vocal Music from Lalit Kala Kendra, University of Pune and has received Scholarships in the field of classical music from the Department of Culture, Government of India, the Kala Akademi, Goa and Dr. Shradhanand Thakur Scholarship from Dadar Matunga Cultural Centre, Mumbai.
He is an approved artist of All India Radio in Hindustani music and Sugam Sangeet. He has performed in many prestigious music festivals all over India.
He has also contributed to the print media by writing a book on music titled 'Shadja' in Konkani. He has also received the National Balshree Award from the Bal Bhavan Society of India.
Shri Rupesh Kashinath Gawas is awarded the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar of Sangeet Natak Akademi for the year 2015 for his notable talent in the field of Hindustani Vocal Music.
