Smit Tiwari

Shri Smit Tiwari was born on 4 January 1989 in Haldwani, Uttarakhand. He inherited the art of Sarod-playing from his father Shri Chandra Shekhar Tiwari. He obtained M. Phil degree in music the Faculty of Music, University of Delhi.
Shri Smit Tiwari is an empanelled artist with the Indian Council for Cultural Relation (ICCR) and has performed widely in various music festivals in India and abroad. He has been a rank holder in All India Radio's music competition, and won the first prize in Baba Harivallabh Music competition, Jalandhar and another at the Pradeshik Sangeet Pratiyogita organized by the Sangeet Natak Akademi, Lucknow. He has also received a National scholarship for young artists from the Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India.
He has received several awards including the Allaudin Khan Memorial Award from Allaudin Khan Music Circle, I.T.C. and Yuva Pratibha Samman Instituted in the memory of Pandit Uday Shankar.
Shri Smit Tiwari is awarded the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar of Sangeet Natak Akademi for the year 2015 for his notable talent in the field of Hindustani Instrumental Music.
