Sukumar Tudu

Shri Sukumar Tudu was born on 6 August 1976 in Bankard (Jorda), a remote village of the Mayurbhanj district of Odisha. He has obtained Masters Degree in Commerce from Utkal University. He studied theatre at the National School of Drama, New Delhi and graduated in 2004 with a specialization in Acting. Thereafter, he joined as apprentice artist at the National School of Drama repertory Company, New Delhi.
Shri Sukumar Tudu has worked with distinguished theatre personalities such as Shri Ramgopal Bajaj, Shri D.R. Ankur, Dr. Anuradha Kapoor, Shri Mohan Maharishi, Shri Bhanu Bharti, Shri Bansi Kaul, Shri M.K. Raina, Shri Rajinder Nath, Shri Naseerudin Shah, Shri Satyabrata Raut and Shri Ovlyakuli Khodjakuli to name a few. He has acted in numerous Odia plays sach as Pratap Garh Re Di, Mahamaya Opera, Manika Jodi and Hindi Plays such as Julius Caesar, Pata Shahar Mumbai, Einstein, Main Istanbul Hoon, Jaat hi Poocho Sadhu Ki and Virasat among others. He has directed many plays such as Phagan Pata Amana Kavya, an Odia play and Hindi Plays such as Satark Sanghamitra .
He has participated in numerous theatre festivals as an actor and director. He has conducted theatre workshops across the country. He is also the recipient of Junior Fellowship from the Ministry of Culture, Government of India for a research Project titled 'Lokdharmi & Natyadharmi Acting styles in Contemporary Odia Jatra'. He has also been a visiting faculty to various universities of the country
Shri Sukumar Tudu is awarded the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar of Sangeet Natak Akademi for the year 2015 for his notable talent in the field of theatre acting.
