Prahlad Digambarrao Kadam

Shri Prahlad Digambarrao Kadam was born on 4 March 1979 in Parbhani village of Maharashtra. He belongs to the illustrious Gondhali family of Maharashtra. He trained under the tutelage of his great grandfather Shri Rajarambapu Kadam. At a later stage, his skills in tabla and dholki were honed under Shri Vithal Shrisagar and by Shri Hanif Khan Mirajkar. He has also received training in pakhawaj from Shri Ramdasji Bhoyar.
Shri Prahlad Digambarrao Kadam has excelled as a player and performer of traditional Gondhal art. He has worked as a percussionist in many wellknown Marathi films, including Lai Bhanat. He has performed extensively in major national and international festivals in the country and abroad. Shri Kadam has trained a large number of students of the region, making a significant contribution to promotion and preservation of Gondhal art.
For his contribution in the field of Sambal drumming, he was honoured with the Maharashtra Bhushan Puraskar conferred by Maharashtra Rajyavyapi Matang Samaj (2010).
Shri Prahlad Digambarrao Kadam is awarded the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar of Sangeet Natak Akademi for the year 2015 for his notable talent in the field of folk music of Maharashtra.
