Mamta Joshi

Shrimati Mamta Joshi was born on 12 September, 1980 in Jalalabad village,Punjab. She received her training in music under the tutelage of her maternal grandfather Shri S. Balwant Singh Sehgal, and later learnt Ghazal, Sufiana and lighter genres from her elder brother Shri Gulshan Tandon. Later her talent was honed under Shri Shankar Mishra and Shri Arun Mishra of Indore Gharana. She has obtained Masters degree in Hindustani music and Kathak, besides her Ph.D. in music. She is working as an Assistant Professor in P.G.G. College for Men, Chandigarh.
Shrimati Mamta Joshi made a mark as a young talent early in life and performed in prestigious music festivals in India and abroad. She has lent her voice for the title song of Shaheed-a-Aazam Sardar Bhagat Singh Punjab State Games organized by the Government of Punjab in 2011. Numerous songs sung by her have been recorded in the form of CDs and DVDs. She has authored a book and published many articles in national and international magazines of music.
For her contribution in the field of music, she has been honoured by the Parliament Members of Canada (2010, 2015),the Minister of Alberta, Canada (2014, 2015), the Congressman of USA (2013), and the Minister of California Assembly with their Government Appreciation Certificate for promoting music worldwide (2013).
Shrimati Mamta Joshi is awarded the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar of Sangeet Natak Akademi for the year 2015 for her notable talent in the field of Sufi and Folk Music of Punjab.
