Born in 1953 in Malleswaram, Bengaluru, Karnataka, Shri Mohan Joshi has
been practicing theatre in Pune, while he was pursuing his studies. After
completing his graduation in Commerce, he started working with Marathi
plays during the mid-seventies. Later, he shifted to Mumbai to work in
theatre and films. He came into the limelight with the acclaimed play Kuryat
Sada Tingalam that had around thousand shows. He established his
reputation as one of the most sensitive and versatile actors of the theatre
through his emotional portrayal of characters. Some of the popular plays in
which he acted include Moroochi Maavashi, Ek Shoonya Bajiraao, Thank You Mr.
Glad, Truk Turk Mhavari Ark, Vaya Lagnaachan, and Mee Rewati Deshpande,
among others. He has acted in numerous films and television serials also. Shri
Joshi has been the President of the Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Natya Parishad
since 2003.
Shri Mohan Vishnu Joshi receives the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award for his
contribution to Indian theatre as an actor.
