Born on 1 November 1980 and 21 February 1983 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, respectively, Shri Srikrishna Mohan and Shri Ramkumar Mohan received their initial training in Carnatic vocal music from Shrimati Balamani Eswar and Shri Thamarakkadu Govindan Namboothiri. Later, they received advanced training under the tutelage of Shri Neyyattinkara Mohanachandran and Shri P.S. Narayanaswami. Shri Srikrishna Mohan and Shri Ramkumar Mohan, also known as the Trichur Brothers, have performed in many prestigious music festivals in India and abroad. They have composed and rendered the “Namami Gange” song that was adopted by the Government of India for the Namami Gange campaign. The brothers have received numerous awards and titles including the Sangita Naadamani from Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham; the Musiri Subramania Iyer award from Krishna Gana Sabha; the Best Vocalists Award from Indian Fine Arts Society; the Yuva Kala Bharathi Award from Bharat Kalachar; and the Shanmukha Sangeetha Shiromani Award from Shanmukhananda Sangeetha Sabha, Chennai. Shri Srikrishna Mohan and Shri Ramkumar Mohan are jointly awarded the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar of Sangeet Natak Akademi for the year 2016 for their notable talent in the field of Carnatic vocal music.
