S.R.G. Rajanna

Born on 14 March 1932 in Pandanallur in Tamil Nadu, Shri S.R.G. Rajanna learnt the art of the Nagaswaram from Guruswamy Pillai, P.G. Govindaswamy Pillai, and P.G. Venugopalan Pillai.
Acclaimed as a practitioner of the traditional art, he has performed extensively in southern India, being featured in notable musical events. He has also presented his music on All India Radio and Doordarshan. Shri Rajanna has been invited to seminars and workshops on the music of South India, and has issued recordings of his music. Shri Rajanna has received a number of honours for his work in music spanning a lifetime. These include the title of Kalaimamani bestowed by the Tamil Nadu Eyal Isai Nataka Manram and an award of the Sankara Mutt of Kancheepuram.
Shri S.R.G. Rajanna receives the Sangeet Natak Akademi Tagore Award for his contribution to Carnatic instrumental music – Nagaswaram.
