K. M. Raghavan Nambiar

Born on 20 November 1934, Shri K. M. Raghavan Nambiar is a well-known dramatist in the contemporary Malayalam theatre. He has been associated with theatre also as a director, actor, academic and administrative organizer for the past fifty years. Professionally, he has been a teacher in government secondary schools in Kerala, and retired from the educational service as Educational Officer in 1990.
Shri Nambiar has written both stage plays and one-act plays, besides radio plays, fiction, and dialogue and lyrics for the Malayalam cinema and television. Most of his plays have been staged under his own direction, and in many of them he has played the lead role. Some of his plays have been included on the curriculum of Calicut University, Mahatma Gandhi University, and Kannur University in Kerala. He has been associated with Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi in various capacities as Editor, Vice-Chairman, and Acting Chairman.
Shri Raghavan has been honoured for his work in drama by the Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi, which conferred on him its Award in 1981. He has also received the Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award in 2010.
Shri K.M. Raghavan Nambiar receives the Sangeet Natak Akademi Tagore Award for his contribution to Indian theatre as a playwright.
